Great software from deep domain knowledge

RESCUESOFT's story started in Helsinki, Finland, in 2014 when the dive team members of the Erottaja rescue station were having a morning meeting. Divers had long been logging their training and alarm dives in paper format, and also some spreadsheets had been created in the recent years to digitize the process.

However, it was becoming burdensome to the divers to put the information in multiple places, and also for the leaders to track monthly and yearly training dives. Traditional recreational dive logging apps had been used by some in their freetime, but none of them had support for professional public safety diving needs.

At this time Janne Laukkanen, a dive team member and proficient computer programmer, had an idea to develop an application specifically designed for public safety divers, so that dive logs could be easily managed with a smart phone, and monthly and yearly reports would be easily generated for the leaders' needs. Initial version of the application was developed and has been in use at the Helsinki City Rescue Department since 2015.

After a few years of testing in Helsinki the application was improved and updated and other organizations were coming along. Currently the application has been used in five major welfare areas in Finland and its customer base constantly growing. In the near future the company plans to expand operations to other countries in Scandinavia, and further expansion is also on the roadmap.
